Plaintiff Richards is an incarcerated inmate and alleges he sent a manuscript to Stephen King, who then used the material in that story for his novel ‘The Green Mile’.  Richards claims that Stephen King wrongfully and illegally sold his illegally obtained copyright to the book, ‘The Green Mile’ to Warner Brothers, which then made the movie.

Plaintiff seeks to enjoin Warner Bros from any further broadcasts of the movie ‘The Green Mile’ and seeks $10 million in damages.

Judgment: James T. Richards’ Motion for Summary Judgment in his favor is DENIED. The Motion for Summary Judgment by Stephen King, Simon and Schuster, Inc., and Warner Brothers, Inc. to dismiss the Complaint is GRANTED.
