RONALD DICKERSON v. WB STUDIO ENTERPRISES, INC., et al.

Plaintiff Ronald Dickerson, also known as JD Lawrence, commenced this copyright infringement suit against a number of Defendants on April 12, 2016.  Plaintiff wrote a screenplay to a play titled ‘Scissors Cut the Devil Loose’ and alleges that the movie ‘Barbershop’ infringes the copyright of his work.

Judgment: Defendants’ motion to dismiss the Complaint is granted. The Clerk of Court is requested to enter judgment in Defendants’ favor and close this case.

 

Davis v. Metro Goldwyn-Mayers Pictures

Plaintiff James Davis claims he wrote a screenplay called “The Shop” and alleges that the movie “Barbershop” utilized Davis’s screenplay without his permission and without any compensation to Davis.

Judgment: The defendants’ motion to dismiss pursuant to Fed. R. Civ. P. 12(b)(2), transfer pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 1404(a), or, in the alternative, dismiss pursuant to Fed. R. Civ. P. 12(b)(6) is granted as to the transfer of venue.
